Worship Philosophy

Worship is such a wonderful gift from God! Bowing our hearts and lives before the Throne of Grace and acknowledging God as the Creator, Sustainer and Redeemer of all things is truly a blessing! God deeply desires our worship. When we pour our souls out before God in submission and recognition of His greatness and saving grace, truly we are humbled and exalted in the same moment - humbled by His greatness and exalted by being called one of His children.

Unity is an important theme that permeates New Testament writings; especially those of the Apostle Paul. In his letters to the early church he communicates many rich theological and doctrinal truths. In addition, he seeks to guide the early church to understand the unifying element of the faith is the person of Christ… and nothing more. Our unity together in Jesus means that we live our lives together in community.

Unity is a cornerstone of worship at Scofield Church. We believe that worship is something that flows from within the church family as a collective activity. Our expression of worship reflects Christ and who He has made us to be in Him. Our worship services are driven to be centered on the person of God and grounded in His Word. Timeless hymns and rich songs of praise (celebration and submission) are brought together in an encouraging, warm, and meaningful place of celebration and submission before God. Growing a passionate heart for God is our inspiration, worshipping together in community is our motivation, and a life filled with God is the ultimate goal.

See the "Worship Service" page for more information about music and the Sunday morning service.
